Who is behind Alibi Syndicate Press?
This press is the brain child of Stacey Smekofske, owner of Print to Pro and Edits by Stacey, and best selling authors and frequent collaborators Vincent Zandri and Troy Lambert. When we saw a gap in the market for noir fiction, and realized publishers were missing opportunities right and left, we teamed up. Who can submit stories to the Alibi Syndicate?
Right now, we have limited publishing slots per year, so we are approaching submissions two different ways: you can talk to one of us at conferences or we may invite you to submit to us if we like your work. We will also be open to submissions twice a year. Some notes: you do not need an agent to submit to us, but if you already have one, we welcome you as well. What makes you different than other small or boutique presses?
We are a traditional press that recognizes the change in how we consume and publish stories, and we want to serve modern readers and authors, while at the same time building author careers, giving readers fiction that is both excellent and affordable. We'll use modern tools like Kickstarter and other crowdfunding platforms, wide publishing to a variety of retailers around the world, and more. *At the moment, we are focused on US audiences to start with, but translations are on our roadmap for both authors and readers.
What is your stance on the use of A.I.?
As your mom said when you asked where babies came from, that's a complicated topic, honey. But we don't want to shy away from it. We reserve the right to change our stance as A.I. changes, court cases are settled, and we all adjust to a new normal where this new technology is here to say in one form or another.
